Case Study: Rosewood Pet Products

About Rosewood Pet Products

Rosewood sources, produces and distributes pet accessories, pet treats and an exciting range of related products for pets and the people who love them. But that’s only part of the story. Rosewood also design and develop their own pet care products to get tails wagging, keep kitties sitting pretty, and help birds, small furries and fish enjoy happier, healthier lives.

Rosewood put so much effort into providing the very best, at the very best prices. From toys to treats to collars to bedding, their range is unsurpassed. Rosewood look for great ideas and top quality – and where they can’t find it, they develop their own!

Why BoxReuse?

“Over the last few years Rosewood has been on a journey of assessing our impact on the environment and putting steps in place to mitigate these. The implementation of our environmental management system, certified to the globally recognised standard, ISO 14001, has focused our efforts on the areas that will have the most significant impacts.

As we import pet products we recognise that this generates a large amount of cardboard packaging. In partnership with BoxReuse, we consider what others may see as ‘waste’ as a high-quality, reusable resource. Our standard processes, before BoxReuse, was that all boxes that been emptied of stock would be baled and subsequently sold for recycling. Whilst this is still vastly better than the boxes going into our general waste and ending up in landfill, or incinerated for energy recovery, there has been some negative press regarding where bales of cardboard for recycling end up going and the value of these bales is subject to frequent fluctuations.

Rosewood are happy to partner with BoxReuse, highlighting that in the waste hierarchy reuse is preferable to recycle. We understand that the high quality boxes we sell to BoxReuse are sought after by their customers and a more stable price than selling bales for recycling. For the team in the warehouse the process is simple and BoxReuse make it a stress free transaction.” – Sara Blain CQP MCQI (Quality Assurance & Compliance Manager)

“Rosewood benefits in its partnership with BoxReuse as it allows us to obtain a higher price per tonne for our cardboard waste compared to our normal recycling stream. The free collection that BoxReuse offer also means there are no hidden costs to us either”. – Sam Sergeant (Warehouse Manager)

Used Boxes From Rosewood Pet Products

From imported pet products, Rosewood receive a lot of cardboard boxes. The warehouse team at Rosewood will flat pack these boxes onto a pallet and build them up so we can maximise our truck loads. Although we collect used boxes from a number of suppliers nationwide, Rosewood is located in Telford, a short 5 miles away from BoxReuse.

This is just one great example of a used cardboard box coming out of Rosewood, ready to be reused:

What Our Customers Think

“Although these boxes come with print and tape on, they are of great quality and strength, even though they are used. We used to buy a similar size elsewhere, brand new and plain, but purchasing these boxes from BoxReuse has saved us more than 50% on our packaging costs.” – A Customer Buying Double Wall Printed Used Boxes

Conclusion

At BoxReuse, we will continue working with Rosewood to see where they have more cardboard boxes coming in and what other sized cardboard boxes we can supply our regular customers and also new customers. A big thank you to Rosewood and their team for their continued dedication to supplying their used cardboard boxes to BoxReuse and their help with this case study.
